Politically themed Ads: Enough is Enough

After reading the article from USA Today about politically themed ads and how company's like 7-Eleven, Maker's Mark, and Boston Market have jumped on these ads, I couldn't help but say, really? With this current election already extremely publicized with more and more ads everywhere you turn, it is tough to see this now on what the article calls "stuff". 7-Eleven for example is selling blue cups for Obama supporters and red cups for Romney supporters. When 7-Eleven in the past has done this the poll that the company keeps from the purchased items has mirrored real election results. After reading that I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be surprised, or if Americans drink too many coffees/slurpee drinks. I get the idea for the target market when these companies do these type of things in the sense of, it is during election time and it is somewhat clever, but at the same time they could run into the problem of the mass consumers just getting annoyed. What if you just went into 7-Eleven and bought a red cup not even thinking about who was even on the cup. Now you are a walking campaign supporter  without even realizing. Not to mention I am sure you will get the unwanted comments from someone. You see ads on youtube, TV, radio, all over the internet, and essentially everywhere. I feel like we have these things to take a break from that stuff, but now everything has to be a vote or poll for something. Maybe it is something I just need to accept for this time of year.
